The ingredients we use

Let’s take a quick look at the ingredients we’re using to whip up our homemade vegan apple tart:

Finding the sweetest apples for your apple pie

The type of apples that go into your homemade apple pie is important to consider. Ideally, you want something that’s the right balance of tender yet crisp. For this delicious vegan apple tart recipe, I like to go with freshly picked apples that are a bit on the sweeter side. After all, for a healthy apple pie, you’ll want the apples to ooze out their natural flavor and sweetness! You can choose popular varieties such as Pink Lady and Gala or go with Granny Smith if you prefer green apples.

Cinnamon: the secret ingredient in homemade apple pie

Cinnamon is the secret ingredient of this delicious apple tart recipe. It’s a spice that elevates fall baking to a whole other level – the perfect addition to your autumn recipes. Its warm, earthy aroma and sweet, slightly spicy flavor beautifully complement the natural sweetness of apples in our apple tart recipe. Aside from its delightful taste, cinnamon offers health benefits too. The spice is known for its potential to help digestion, regulate blood sugar, and reduce inflammation.

During the autumn months in Europe, cinnamon is readily available in grocery stores and local farmer’s markets. Just make sure to shop for organic cinnamon as conventional cinnamon often lacks the strong taste and intense flavour. Incorporate this versatile spice into your cozy fall-inspired treats and vegan desserts to enhance the taste of your creations.

The Art of Moderating Sugar in Vegan Apple Pie

Sugar is an essential component in our vegan apple pie. In this recipe, I’ve used it in moderation to strike that perfect balance of sweetness and tartiness. It complements the spiciness of cinnamon and enhances the natural sweetness of apples.

It’s important to remember that moderation is key when it comes to sugar consumption. Our recipe ensures just the right amount to create a delightful dessert without compromising on taste or health considerations. For my apple pie recipe, I’ve gone with cane sugar. But if you want to use a healthier alternative, feel free to swap cane sugar or regular white sugar with brown sugar or maple syrup.

Walnuts: Add some nuttiness to your vegan apple pie!

Sprinkling a generous handful of chopped walnuts into your vegan apple pie recipe is like adding a delightful crunch of autumn itself. It just so happens that walnut season is in full swing across Europe! During these cozy autumn months, walnuts are both fresh and abundant. When scattered atop the sumptuous pie filling, the chopped walnuts lend a satisfying texture and crunch to your apple pie. Not to mention they infuse your pie with a rich, nutty flavor that harmonizes beautifully with the sweetness of the cinnamon-baked apples. So, go ahead and sprinkle those walnuts liberally – your taste buds will thank you!

Apple pie + ice cream = match made in dessert heaven!

Once the apple puff pastry pie is out of the oven and cooled down, it’s time to plate it up. Cut out a slice of your pie and serve it with a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. Apple pie and vanilla ice cream is a match made in dessert heaven!

The warm, fragrant apple filling pairs harmoniously with the cold, velvety sweetness of the ice cream. The vanilla ice cream not only adds a luscious creaminess but also enhances the pie’s flavors. As the ice cream slowly melts over the warm pie, it creates a delightful contrast of temperatures and textures that tantalize your taste buds.

For added effect, drizzle some caramel sauce on top, and bon apetit!

Serve your homemade apple pie with tea or coffee

What better way to bring out the delectable flavors of your homemade apple pie than with a piping hot cup of tea or coffee on the side?

Be it as a breakfast meal on cool mornings or an afternoon snack on cozy evenings, pair up your apple pie with a brew of your choice. And enjoy the vibes of fall in its full glory!
